Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly

Little BrothersLittle Brothers – Friends of the Elderly provides medical transportation to Houghton and Keweenaw County senior citizens (60 or older) who cannot afford transportation or do not meet the eligibility requirement of other transportation assistance programs. Little Brothers will transport patients to medical appointments both locally and in Marquette. Little Brothers currently operates two wheelchair-accessible vans and two automobiles. Little Brothers’ transportation program is run by volunteers and funded through donations and some hospital reimbursements. Services are “door-through-door” (that is, providing assistance in and out of the vehicle and building at origin and destination, carrying bags, pushing wheelchairs, etc.). There is never any charge for the service.
